3 Days Chimpanzee trekking at Kibale National Park

The jungle rainforest of Kibale Park is an area for primate tracking within East Africa. It’s an amazing and rewarding experience to trek chimps. Taking a chimpanzee safari within Kibale will give you an opportunity to explore the jungle, swamps as well as the grassland around this forest.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1:  Transfer to Kibale and community walk

Depart in the early morning from Kampala for an amazing primate safari in Kibale Park. This is a wonderful ride taking you through the gorgeous countryside all the way to Kibale Forest National Park found in western Uganda. You will drive past local homesteads, tea farms plus banana plantations. Have lunch at your lodging;

Bigodi Village plus community tour:   Bigodi community walk takes you to the homesteads in the local communities close to the park. On this village walk, you’ll be escorted by one of the locals who is very knowledgeable about the norms plus cultures of the different tribes here. You will have a door-to-door village tour and also visit the churches and the community schools. The walk will familiarize you with the village lifestyle of these African people in this remote area. Head back to your lodging for dinner and the overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzees trekking in Kibale national park

Your driver guide will transfer you to the briefing place right after breakfast, he will then hand in your details and permits for registration and allocation of chimpanzee community to trek. You will then be allocated to a chimpanzee community and your ranger guide will lead you on the trek in search of this great ape. Watch the chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor, feed, play and rest.

In the afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The reserve is abundant with butterflies, plants, animals and spectacular birds like Great Blue Turaco and rare Papyrus Gonolek will be of great interest to birders. The swamp is also home to elusive animals such as Red Colobus monkeys and Sitatunga.

Day 3: Back to Kampala or Entebbe
